Hello and thank you for visiting my website! My name is Ruth Moxen and this is my small business.
I am a HCPC and BAAT registered Art psychotherapist and currently working in a local primary school and mental health charity.
Making is therapy for me and I defiantly cant keep everything so I am using my skill to create handcrafted, unique and bespoke products for you! I also love getting commissions for unique products.
Each item is handmade to order so orders can take 2-3 weeks to make.

Artist Statement 2019
My ceramic work is defined by my interest to educate others and an attempt to encourage empathy regarding the difficult challenges we face in our lives. Currently, I am exploring the ways in which secrets kept inside have a significant impact on our mental health. Inspired by the saying 'A problem shared is a problem halved', my work provides a medium for participants to share their secrets confidentially as an important part of the healing process.
Through a confidential questionnaire I received over 250 secrets. I then broke the secrets down into 10 categories and through extensive colour research gave each category a colour. My goal is to create a series of large coiled ceramic vessels which contain these secrets. Each vessel is completely unique in shape and size as we are as humans.
We may keep our secrets hidden from the world and sometimes this is good, while other times this can have a bad impact on our mental health. When looking at the outside of the vessels you cannot see what is going on internally, but as you come closer, you can have a glimpse of the secrets inside the vessels. I will leave one vessel empty and invite viewers to contribute their own secrets. I hope this will make the viewers feel involved in my project, challenging them to Mind their Mood.
